Families of Maurice Hobbs and DJ Broadus helped organize and attended the gathering. She said it’s important to come together to realize everyone in the community has a responsibility to bring peace to their neighborhoods. “There should be a murder charge, not a tampering with evidence charge,” Dominic Broadus said. Dominic Broadus is asking supporters to come to sentencing in Baker County that starts at 9 a.m. Monday.

That message is directed at investigators, pressuring them to get answers in the man's untimely death. "DJ was, you can see, loved by a lot of people, loved by me, his sister, his brother, his friends. He was the one that kept all the stories going in the family," said Broadus' mother, Delmesha Swain. Broadus' loved ones and advocates say the person who was questioned has ties to a prominent Baker County family, and think that may have protected him from being arrested.
