The Justice Department has secured a $9 million settlement with Ameris Bank over allegations it avoided underwriting mortgages in predominately Black and Latino communities in Jacksonville, Florida, and discouraged people there from getting home loans.

She adds that its important to teach children to be kind and respectful to all people and empower them to stand up for equality. So, we need to teach white children to not only be allies, but to be activists, said Dr. Mudd. Including children in diverse activities and groups while theyre young helps decrease prejudice too.
