NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – Animal control officers in Nassau County are searching for the person who abandoned an emaciated dog. Staff at the Nassau County Humane Society named her “Hope” because they hope she will be able to recover. They said she was pushed out of a car at the Fernandina Beach Exit off I-95 Saturday. The veterinarian believes Hope recently had puppies. The Humane Society is asking anyone with information about their whereabouts, or where Hope came from, to give them a call.

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. – The Glynn County Water Rescue Team saved a dog Tuesday morning from the ocean near Massengale Park. Glynn County Fire Rescue said the pup, named Brooks, decided to chase a few pelicans. Unfortunately, those pelicans were half a mile off shore. Members from the water rescue team were able to locate Brooks in St. Simon’s shipping channel and bring him safely back to shore. Brooks and his owner are both safe and appreciative!

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. – The Humane Society is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for abandoning a severely underweight dog on Pecan Point Drive in Brunswick, Georgia. On Oct. 11, Glynn County Animal Control responded to a request for assistance from the Glynn County Police Department to rescue a severely emaciated dog found abandoned in a crate inside a porta-potty at a construction site for a new housing development. After receiving emergency medical care overnight, the dog, now called Rusty, was transferred from animal control to a rescue group, where he is recovering from his physical and psychological injuries. We hope our reward helps find the person or persons who committed this despicable act.”Glynn County animal control officers and Glynn County police officers are investigating this case. PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A K9 assisting the Federal Bureau of Investigation in a search for a missing baby was bitten by a water moccasin in the Everglades on Thursday. As investigators and officers were searching the area, Heidi Sievers, Forensic Investigator (FI) and K9 Phi’s handler noticed that K9 Phi was limping. ​“The Pasco Sheriff’s Office is thankful for the quick actions of BluePearl in K9 Phi’s care," the Pasco Sheriff’s Office said. “Their professionalism and communication with FI Sievers and Cpl. While K9 Phi is a working dog, he is also a part of not only the Pasco Sheriff’s Office family, but also FI Sievers’ family, as our K9s live at home in off duty hours.

HONG KONG – Hong Kong health officials confirmed one additional case of the new virus on Friday, bringing the territory's total to 92. Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan of Hong Kong’s Department of Health also told reporters that the pet dog of a COVID-19 patient had tested “weakly positive” the new virus. SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. – A loyal dog is getting some extra treats after officials said he protected his lost owner until help arrived. The mother told the 911 operators that their dog “Buddy” was also missing. She added that the dog might be with the lost child. Deputies in Suwannee County said neighbors found the missing child and dog in the woods. Neighbors told officials that the dog would not let them near the child.

DENVER – For 30 years, it's been illegal to own a pit bull in the city of Denver. But that could change after the city council voted to remove the ban. The Denver City Council passed a new code in a 7-4 vote Monday allowing owners to register their pit bull with the Denver Animal Protection (DAP) and get a breed-restricted license. An annual fee will also be required to maintain the license, a tweet from the Denver City Council said. It also limits the number of pit bulls in one home to two.

The Animal Welfare Legislation Amendment Bill, which became law on Thursday, imposes a range of strict penalties in a bid to improve animal welfare. Owners can face heavy on-the-spot fines if they fail to provide basics like shelter, food and water. People who confine dogs for 24 hours must also allow them to move freely for the next two hours or face prosecution. "Modern animal welfare is about considering how an animal is coping both mentally and physically with the conditions in which it lives," ACT City Service Minister Chris Steel, who secured the bill, said in a media release.

(CNN) - Duane "Dog" Chapman, star of WGN America's "Dog's Most Wanted," is being monitored after a medical incident over the weekend, a representative for the TV star tells CNN. "I can confirm Dog is under doctor's care and is resting comfortably," a representative for Chapman said in a statement, following reports he'd experienced a heart-related emergency. When asked to clarify the nature of Chapman's medical issue, the representative did not immediately respond. Chapman became known to television audiences via "Dog the Bounty Hunter," a reality TV series that aired from 2004-2012. His late wife, Beth Chapman, starred alongside him on both his current and former series until her death in June.

The latest was this year, in 2019, when researchers again looked at about 2,000 people with no history of heart disease. The researchers compared the cardiovascular health scores of pet owners with those of petless people. But then they compared dog owners with everyone else and found that no matter their age, sex or education level, they benefited the most in terms of cardiovascular health. The study included many factors that determined the health of the heart and arteries, like showing that dog-owners tend to also have a healthier diet than other pet-owners -- thus contributing to a better cardiovascular health.

Duane "Dog" Chapman is offering a reward for information about the burglary of his family's store in Edgewater, Colorado. Beth Chapman died of cancer in June in a Honolulu hospital. The pair and their son Leland also starred in CMT's reality series, "Dog and Beth: On the Hunt," from 2013 to 2015. They later revealed during the A&E special "Dog & Beth: Fight of Their Lives" that she was cancer-free.
