The Tugboat Pop notified Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville around 3 a.m. Sunday that the 42-year-old man fell into the water while moving from the vessel to a barge. The commercial tugboat worker was not wearing a life jacket and did not resurface, according to the Coast Guard. Mark Vlaun, commanding officer of Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville. “We ask that all mariners keep a sharp lookout while transiting the waterways near Blount Island and to call our command center at 904-714-7555 with any reports of new information.”

Trainers will no longer ride dolphins at the three theme parks. This comes after a nearly year-long campaign by animal rights activists to get the company to prohibit the stunt. It includes riding on the backs of dolphins and standing on their faces. SeaWorld says the phasing out of the stunts will take place over the next few months.

Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville Command Center was notified about 1:45 p.m. that an unmanned 30-foot cabin cruiser, Spartina, had drifted into a dredge vessel. A Coast Guard Station Mayport 45-foot response boat and an Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew launched just before 2:30 p.m. to begin search efforts. About 3:45 p.m., the Coast Guard said, the response boat crew located a 71-year-old man near the north jetties of the St. Marys River. The Coast Guard said the man was taken to Baptist Medical Center Nassau with no reported injuries.
