The crash happened around 4:45 p.m. on State Road 207 near County Road 207A. According to the Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was traveling south on S.R. An East Palatka man was killed in Wednesday in a head-on crash involving a box truck in Putnam County. The deadly two-vehicle wreck occurred shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday along a stretch of State Road 100 east of East End Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report. Troopers said the 52-year-old man was behind the wheel of a sedan heading east on SR 100 when it crossed over the center line into the westbound lane and struck a box truck. The box truck veered off the road before the driver corrected and brought the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder where it caught fire, troopers said. The other driver had minor injuries.

EAST PALATKA, Fla. – A 39-year-old man was shot and killed early Monday morning during a domestic incident in Putnam County, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said Timothy Anderson was shot and killed by a 59-year-old relative. Deputies responded early Monday morning around 6 a.m. to a 911 call that a man was shot during a domestic dispute at 115 Bangor Ave. in East Palatka. The Sheriff’s Office said deputies last responded to the home in July for a domestic disturbance. Records show that Anderson was a registered sex offender who was convicted in 2008 for child molestation in Bradford County.

PALATKA, Fla. The Putnam County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved the relocation of the Confederate statue in front of the courthouse in Palatka. The Board of Commissioners also decided to form a citizens committee that will recommend where the statue will be moved to. The county said it will depend on private funding to move the statue. In early June, hundreds of people gathered outside the Putnam County Courthouse for a demonstration against racial inequality. The two young adults who organized the protest said it was time for the Confederate statue in front of the courthouse to be removed because they feel its a symbol of injustice toward African Americans.

It wasnt always a single cell, but, man, the lightning was just frequent and intense. A lot of dry air surrounding that thunderhead, and that led to a lot of static electricity and, of course, the form of static electricity we see in the skies of red this time of year is a form of lightning.

EAST PALATKA, Fla. – A good Samaritan rescued the pilot of a floatplane flipped over after landing in the St. Johns River in East Palatka on Tuesday, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, it happened about 4:50 p.m. near Riverview Drive just north of Count Road 207A. The Highway Report shows a 65-year-old Palatka man attempted to land his 2005 Aventura II amphibious biplane in the river but didn’t realize that the wheels were not retracted. Troopers said a person who lives nearby saw what happened and went out in a boat to pick up the pilot, who escaped with minor injuries. The Highway Patrol report shows the pilot was not taken to a hospital.

PALATKA, Fla. - A 62-year-old East Palatka man was sentenced to life without parole on Thursday for a double shooting that killed a man and seriously injured another in 2018. READ MORE: 1 killed, 1 wounded in East Palatka double shootingCharles Edward Price was found guilty of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, according to the State Attorney's Office. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said the 2018 shooting took place after a dispute outside an East Palatka home. Deputies found Patrick James Nolan, 60, dead and his brother, Michael Francis Nolan, 59, seriously injured. Deputies said Price shot both brothers, killing one.
