FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Mattie, an elderly and blind Jack Russel Terrier, is spending the holidays happy with her humans after she went missing for several hours Saturday afternoon.
In a news release Thursday, a spokesperson for Flagler County Fire Rescue described the search and rescue effort that might have just save Mattie’s life.
Animal Control Officers spotted Mattie stuck in the mud 20-feetown from a sheer drop along the water’s edge of the Intracoastal Waterway.
That’s when a crew from Flagler County Fire Rescue was called in to help.
Responders aren’t sure how long Mattie was stuck, but said she remained calm during the rescue and is remarkably unharmed.
