Two boats on Jacksonville’s Westside were engulfed in flames.

Police are investigating what caused a truck to crash into a Neptune Beach church building Thursday morning.

The U.S. Forest Service says it will take emergency action soon to save giant sequoias by speeding up projects to clear underbrush to protect the world’s largest trees from the increasing threat of wildfires.

A federal grand jury has indicted a former college professor for allegedly starting four wildfires in Northern California that threatened to trap firefighters as they battled a massive fire nearby.

The firefighters covered themselves on the ground with the emergency shelters that look like space blankets if they are in imminent danger from flames. On Sept. 8, 14 firefighters deployed emergency shelters as flames overtook them and destroyed the fire station they were defending in the Los Padres National Forest. He was the fourth person killed by the blaze that has spread to neighboring Tehama County. The Glass and Zogg fires are among nearly 30 wildfires burning in California.

The building was most recently the Bethelite Conference Center, owned by Bethel Baptist Church, and before that, it was a Ramada Inn.
