Earlier Thursday, Eta was in the Gulf of Mexico when it slogged ashore near Cedar Key, Florida. Before that first brush with Florida, Eta first hit Nicaragua as a Category 4 hurricane and killed at least 120 people in Central America and Mexico, with scores more missing. First, FPL is offering a credit program right now to customers who are behind with their payments.. There is also federal assistance available, and CARES Act money that might be an option too through your local county government office. And FPL’s Care to Share Program, which provides bill payment assistance to customers, has been expanded due to the pandemic to support customers. FPL said a lot of customers don’t even realize financial help is available to them.

Now it looks like there are some suitors standing by to take JEA up on the offer. The Florida Times-Union reported over the weekend that during a quarterly conference call, FPL executives brought up the question of acquiring JEA. The fact that FPL is talking about JEA shows that other utility companies are watching closely what happens with JEA and its potential of going on the market. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - A traffic alert for drivers in the Switzerland area of St. Johns County: Fallen trees and power lines have left State Road 13 closed in both directions just south of Greenbriar Road on Sunday. At last check, this was still an active scene, with five or six work trucks set up behind the work zone cones. Multiple downed power lines were seen resting on bushes along the side of the road. Our team saw a pretty large tree down on the river side of State Road 13, as well. The St. Johns County Sheriffs Office said the road will be closed for several hours.
