Last week, I shared with you a list of drive-through holiday light displays. Here’s a roundup of our favorite displays in town, some of which might even be in your neighborhood. Keep in mind, this is a short list, so leave a comment mentioning your favorite display if it’s not on the list. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In the weeks leading up to Christmas, it’s bumper-to-bumper along Girvin Road -- the homes are all plugged-in to the season, drawing carloads of people from all over to impressive light displays. The longtime resident of the neighborhood says when people comes into their neighborhood, they can access both sides of the community. “And when JSO came they sort of blocked them off, diverted them to go down on either Girvin Road north or south, he said. The neighborhood keeps the lights up through New Year’s and possibly through the first week of January.

If you and the family are planning on driving around to view some decorations, you’ll want to head toward Girvin Road, the JaxBest choice for best spot for local holiday lights, for the second year in a row. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Dog owners living near Atlantic Boulevard and Girvin Road wont have to travel far to get their pups some exercise. A new dog park has opened at Abess Park, just in time for Labor Day weekend. The park near the corner of Girvin Road and Abess Boulevard, just north of Atlantic Boulevard, will be open from dawn to dusk and features separate fenced areas for large and all dogs. The large dog section includes a loop trail through the woodland area and an open grassy field for free play. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, I felt strongly that we needed to open this dog park as quickly as possible to allow our constituents a safe and healthy alternative for experiencing the outdoors.The dog park rules include:
