After years of avoiding it personally, CNN's Anderson Cooper explores in a book the complicated legacy of the Vanderbilt family — what he calls America's version of “The Crown."

NEW YORK – CNN's Anderson Cooper is the proud father of a newborn baby boy. Cooper’s father, who died when he was 10 years old, was named Wyatt. His son's middle name, Morgan, is a name from the family tree of his mother Gloria Vanderbilt. "I do wish my mom and dad and my brother, Carter were alive to meet Wyatt," Cooper said, "but I like to believe they can see him. Happy to know that their love is alive in me and in Wyatt... and that our family continues.

Gloria Vanderbilt's will has been revealed. The vast majority of Vanderbilt's fortune will go to her youngest son, Anderson Cooper. In an on-air eulogy following Vanderbilt's death, Cooper praised his mom for her extraordinary life and career. "Gloria Vanderbilt was 95 years old when she died," he added.
