JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 45-year-old woman was shot and killed Wednesday evening in the Goodby’s Creek neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. “We knew the neighbor, tried to go in,” neighbor Jane Parkinson said. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office dive team van and a couple of police vehicles could be seen Thursday at the home in Goodby's Creek. According to city records and other neighbors, a family moved into the home about two years ago after doing major renovations on the house. “They made terrific improvements to the property they bought and basically have been rather diligent -- to me, model neighbors,” neighbor Paul Heck said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A disabled man in his 20s was killed overnight in an apartment fire in the Goodby's Creek neighborhood, according to firefighters and witnesses. Flames could be seen shooting through the roof of the unit in the Kensington Square apartment complex late Wednesday night when firefighters arrived. "I heard people screaming loudly, and I started to get out of bed, and then I heard a tremendous explosion," Workman said. "People started screaming in our window."

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - One person was found dead in an overnight apartment fire in Jacksonville's Goodby's Creek neighborhood. Firefighters with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department were called to Kensington Square, near Goodby's creek where flames could be seen shooting through the roof late Wednesday night. Red Cross was requested to help several people but one person was found dead. JFRD said the fire heavily damaged three apartments at the six-building complex.
