Two people were transported to local hospitals in critical condition Sunday afternoon after being pulled from the ocean in Ponte Vedra Beach and Hanna Park.

Coast Guard crews put the barge in “a more favorable position” Tuesday night and anchored it. Wednesday morning, the Coast Guard said the barge was stable about 1 mile south of the entrance to the St. Johns River, adding there are no impacts on the environment and a 500-yard safety zone is enforced around the barge. AdThe Coast Guard did not specify what kind of ash was being hauled but said nothing has spilled from the barge. #USCG Sector #Jacksonville is responding to an incident involving the barge Bridgeport, 1 mile south of the St. John's River entrance. A safety zone is in place and all mariners are urged to remain clear of operations.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A lifeguard is credited with saving a woman who was pulled into the surf off Neptune Beach during Hurricane Dorian as the storm left behind damage and flooding throughout Duval County. First responders spent more than an hour looking for the car -- even using a helicopter in the search to find it. First responders had to use a knife to cut through multiple airbags to free the two victims. Police said the child was transported to an area hospital in good condition.
