JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Johnson & Johnson shots were given to nearly 170 qualifying adults Friday at a pop-up vaccination site in the parking lot of a Harvey’s grocery store on Moncrief Road. The drive-thru vaccines were offered in partnership with Florida Blue. News4Jax was told to expect more pop-up vaccination sites as part of efforts to get more people vaccinated, especially in underserved neighborhoods where there may be a reluctance to get the shot. Wells says some of those who turned out Friday had no way to get a site even a few miles away.

Southeastern Grocers is preparing to administer 8,100 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine throughout Florida, the supermarket company announced Thursday. Beginning Feb. 11, Southeastern Grocers will start giving COVID-19 shots to eligible recipients at select Winn-Dixie, Harveys Supermarket and Fresco y Más locations. The shots will be for health care workers, residents and staff of long-term care facilities, and people age 65 and older while supplies last. Those with health insurance must provide their health insurance card during their scheduled appointment, and those without insurance will need to present a valid driver’s license or social security card. Southeastern Grocers said that in the coming months, it will also provide additional COVID-19 shots at pharmacy locations and will coordinate future drive-thru clinics to administer vaccinations in additional underserved communities as availability expands.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With Halloween right around the corner, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie are ready to share some candy! Candy stations will be placed throughout the stores, which will be served safely by store associates wearing masks and gloves. The Candy filled event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. However, face masks are required for the health of customers and supermarket associates. All Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores will be participating in the event.

WAYCROSS, Ga. Food Lion announced Wednesday its acquiring 62 BI-LO/Harveys Supermarket stores across Georgia and the Carolinas, including the Harveys location in Waycross. Food Lion says it plans to hire 4,650 associates as part of these acquisition plans. Other stores that will be acquired in southeast Georgia include the Harveys on South 1st Street in Jesup and South Pierce Street in Alma. Now through the Fourth of July, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie customers can round up their total grocery bill to the nearest dollar at check out in honor of United States military heroes and their loved ones. The SEG Gives Foundation kicked off the donation program with a pledge to contribute $100,000 in support of Folds of Honors mission to provide educational scholarships to the spouses and children of Americas fallen and disabled service-members. Southeastern Grocers, parent company and home of BI-LO, Fresco y Ms, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery stores, announced the launch of the six-week community donation program to benefit Folds of Honor on Monday. Every cent donated to Folds of Honor helps provide a brighter future for the legacies of fallen and disabled service members through education. The grocer will also stream a virtual concert series and offer online donation matching to help encourage community members to support military families remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Southeastern Grocers Inc., the Jacksonville-based parent company of Winn-Dixie, Harveys Supermarket and BI-LO, together with the SEG Gives Foundation, announced the donation of nearly 258,000 $5 hunger relief bags to Feeding America. Thats more than $1.28 million worth of food that will help provide meals to people across the Southeast who are facing hunger due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation was made possible through customer and associate donations received during Southeastern Grocers in-store hunger relief program that took place from May 5-15 at all store registers. We are so very thankful for the donation from Southeastern Grocers and its customers.Southeastern Grocers has a longstanding partnership with Feeding America and the communities it serves. In addition to this donation of hunger relief bags, the SEG Gives Foundation donated $250,000 to Feeding America in March to help its network of food banks.
