JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was killed in a shooting Sunday in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Police said they responded around 11:20 a.m. to Norfolk Boulevard at Portsmouth Avenue, where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police said the man was taken to an area hospital, where he died. The Sheriff’s Office said it appears to be an isolated incident and everyone involved is in police custody. Sunday’s shooting happened in the same area as the March 2020 shooting that killed Inandi Wyche, a 17-year-old Ribault High School student.

Wyche was found dead March 19, 2020, by police called to a shooting near Portsmouth Avenue and Norfolk Boulevard, one of five killings in Jacksonville that week. AdPolice said at the time that a grey car was seen pulling up in front of Wyche’s vehicle before two men got out and opened fire with an AK-47. Roland Ball and Xavion Porter both face murder charges in connection with 17-year-old Inandi Wyche's killing. According to a redacted copy of Ball’s arrest warrant, the 21-year-old was identified as one of the individuals involved in Wyche’s killing, a deadly shooting that police believe was retaliation for the shooting of Daquan Saxton. Saxton, 20, was killed March 17, 2020, in a shooting that took place three blocks away.

He’s made shirts, masks, wristbands and hats to honor his niece and is even looking to start a business in her name. Now the family is hoping an increased reward generates more answers. He said it also hurts him to know she was a victim of violence in their neighborhood.

More than two months after a Ribault High School honor student was shot and killed, her family is asking for anyone who knows anything about her death to come forward. Inandi Wyche was killed March 19 in the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood near Norfolk and Portsmouth Street on the Northside. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville family is mourning the death of a Ribault High student who was shot and killed Thursday night. Loved ones say Inandi Wyche, 17, was a good student and cheerleader who planned to study at Florida A&M University. They identified Wyche as the young woman found dead about 7 p.m. Thursday following a shooting near Portsmouth Avenue and Norfolk Boulevard. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a grey car pulled up in front of Wyche’s vehicle, then two men got out of the vehicle and opened fire. The Sheriff’s Office said a young man was also shot, but he was hospitalized with injuries that were not deemed life-threatening.
