A scary incident at Interlachen High School is putting a spotlight on a growing vaping problem across the US involving kids. News4JAX has learned that last Friday, two junior high students at Interlachen High School were taken to the hospital after becoming ill from vaping.

Owen Wallace participated in football and weightlifting at Interlachen High School. He graduated with a 4.0 GPA and has received an AA degree from St. Johns River State College.

INTERLACHEN, Fla. – An 18-year-old Interlachen High School student arrested in February on charges that he had sex with a 12-year-old girl is no longer facing charges, according to court documents. Roosevelt Richardson was initially charged with first-degree felony sexual assault, traveling to meet a minor and unlawful use of a communication device. Court documents filed in mid-March show that the State Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute Richardson on the charges. No explanation was given for why the charges were dropped.

INTERLACHEN, Fla. – Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office have been investigating a fight Friday between two Interlachen High School students that was captured on video. On Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office posted a message on its Facebook page, asking anyone who has shared the video to remove it from their news feeds. The post described the video as “graphic and disturbing," saying it showed one student being repeatedly punched by another student. If a student, parent or visitor to the school sees a behavior that is harmful to another person, report it,” the Facebook post said. But at the news conference, DeLoach announced that two guns had been found in the backpack of a 13-year-old student at Jenkins Middle School in Palatka.

Baylee Crowe, 19, was booked Wednesday night into the Putnam County jail, where he's being held without bond, online jail records show. On Wednesday morning, according to deputies, those students told school administrators and the information was handed over to youth resource deputies, who contacted the Sheriffs Office. We will continue to take seriously any threat made against our school campuses and students, Sheriff H.D. Putnam County School District Superintendent Rick Surrency thanked school staff, youth resource deputies and the Sheriff's Office for taking swift action that led to Crowe's recent arrest.
