Officials: Parking deck in Atlanta experiences 2nd collapse
ATLANTA โ A concrete slab at a parking deck under construction in Atlanta collapsed Saturday โ the second collapse at the site in as many days โ sending a worker trying to shore up the structure plunging several stories below, authorities said. The 3,000-space parking garage is being built at one of Emory Universityโs hospitals just north of downtown Atlanta. On Friday, a section of concrete on the prefabricated parking deck partially collapsed, injuring six workers. Stafford said Saturday that a construction problem, not a faulty design, was to blame for that first collapse. Other construction workers were injured but managed to walk away from the collapse, Riley told reporters at the scene.
Man sought after pushing wife into path of truck on I-75
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Authorities are searching for a Florida man accused of attacking his wife on Interstate 75 and pushing her into the path of an oncoming semi-truck. Morgan grabbed the steering wheel and almost caused the victim to lose control after the blowout, officials said. He headbutted her and punched her several times before pushing her into the path of an oncoming truck on the interstate, according to a trooper's reportThe truck driver was able to avoid hitting her, the agency said. Officials couldn't find him after a search of the area by troopers and Pasco County Sheriff's deputies. The Florida Highway Patrol was granted a warrant for Morgans arrest for attempted murder and the search for him continues.
Troopers: 2 men fatally shot in car on I-75 ramp in Tampa
TAMPA, Fla. Two people were found dead inside a car near a ramp to Interstate 75 in Tampa early Thursday, the Florida Highway Patrol said. According to troopers, witnesses reported seeing people in a white Jeep Wrangler shooting at a Nissan. Witnesses said a third person ran from the car. The names of the victims were not released. Florida to boost electric vehicle charging stations
Ron DeSantis says he cant afford a Tesla, hes all in on adding electric-vehicle charging stations to the states highways. This comes as Floridians and Americans continue to purchase more and more electric vehicles, DeSantis said while at the Turkey Lake Service Plaza in Orlando. EVgo, with the largest network of fast charging stations in the U.S., got three. A total of about $25 million of the states share is supposed to go for charging stations. Last year, the state announced the expansion of privately run charging stations at Florida Turnpike service plazas.
Dashcam video shows tornado touch down near Lake City
LAKE CITY, Fla. โ Video taken from a Columbia County deputyโs cruiser shows the EF0 tornado that touched down in near Lake City over the weekend. According to the National Weather Service, the tornado hit State Road 47 around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. RELATED | NWS confirms tornado touched down near Lake CityThe tornado moved north-northeastward, snapping trees and damaging a small barn before crossing SR 47. The tornado strength was an EF-0 with an estimated wind peak of 85 mph. Afterward, Columbia County deputies went door to door to make sure everyone was okay.

Teen dies when tire blows out on I-75
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. โ A 19-year-old woman was killed in a crash on Interstate 75 in Alachua County on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Chelsea Morgan, of Jasper, was traveling north in the center lane when the right rear tire of her Jeep Liberty blew out, causing her to lose control, state troopers said. The Jeep left the wet roadway and spun onto the east grass shoulder at mile marker 388 at about 3:30 p.m., troopers said. It traveled through a ditch and struck a tree line with its front, then hit a second tree on the driver's side door. Troopers said Morgan was not wearing a seat belt, and Asbury was wearing one.
