At least two people were in critical condition at last check and Jacksonville Fire Rescue confirmed multiple vehicles were involved. A crash report is expected later today or tomorrow.

The fire appeared to have started before 6:30 a.m. in the cab and was extinguished quickly. Two lanes were blocked while responders towed the truck from the interstate. The scene cleared just after 7 a.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One person was hurt Tuesday morning in a crash on the Buckman Bridge, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the crash was reported shortly before 7:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the bridge, blocking traffic in the two right lanes. Lanes reopened by 10 a.m. Jacksonville Fire Rescue said four to five cars were involved in the crash and one person was rushed to the hospital with traumatic injuries.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A juvenile is expected to be OK after he or she was hit by a car Monday morning near Douglas Anderson School of the Arts on San Diego Road in Jacksonville. Jacksonville Fire Rescue responded to the call but did not take the kid to the hospital before a parent arrived. It’s not known if the juvenile is a student at Douglas Anderson. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office were called to investigate a shooting Thursday night in the Moncrief neighborhood. The shooting occurred at the Hilltop Village Apartments. A spokesperson for JSO said officers and Jacksonville Fire Rescue responded to the area for a reported shooting around 7:45 Thursday night. Upon arrival, a man was found with at least one gunshot wound. No further information was released, including whether the man was found inside or outside of an apartment.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 17-year-old found shot to death behind a Hyde Park home earlier this month has been identified as Koby Coats. Coats was found dead, and his family believes his body was dumped behind the house. Coats' online obituary says he had a huge heart and loved his family more than anything, and that he will be remembered for his smile, big brown eyes and making people laugh. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A student at Ribault High School was hospitalized Friday afternoon after “a discharge of a firearm” at the school and another student who was found with a gun was arrested, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Ribault’s principal, Gregory Bostic, sent parents a message that the student was shot in the arm. Officers at Fletcher High School, which Ribault is playing in a football game Friday night, were aware of the incident and were on high alert. Bostic said this incident does not represent the students of Ribault High School. But, I know what happened today does not represent our students here at John Ribault High School," he said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Police said a man was hit by gunfire Wednesday morning while driving on Los Santos Way, near University Boulevard North two of blocks north of the Arlington Expressway. According to the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office, police and Jacksonville Fire Rescue were called about a shooting near the Los Palmos Apartments at 9:25 a.m. Officers said a 30-year-old man and a woman passenger were driving when someone shot at the car. The man was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Police said the gunman may have left in a white, full-size Ford pickup truck with a tool box. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Fire Rescue said it took 65 firefighters to contain a blaze that consumed multiple sections of a commercial building in Mixon Town near Riverside before dawn Friday. Shortly after firefighters arrived, they were ordered out of the building for safety. A spokesperson for JFRD said the front half of the building is destroyed, but the back half was saved from the flames. Drivers are warned and reminded to slow down and keep their attention on the road when near any fire scene. Fire officials noted this fire made for the ninth multi-alarm fire in 2020, an unusually high number for the department.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A building has been reduced to nothing but ashes and rubble after a fire started at an house on Galvestone Avenue in Jacksonville. One person was hurt and had to be taken to the hospital, but will be O.K. Jacksonville Fire Rescue said the fire started before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning. The structure was fully engulfed in flames before firefighters were called and responded. On Twitter, a spokesperson for JFRD said firefighters described their response to extinguish the flames as a defensive attack.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A fire potentially started by transients has been extinguished in Mixon Town near downtown Jacksonville, according to Jacksonville Fire Rescue. The fire started before 9 a.m. Tuesday under the overpass for I-95 at Dennis and Myrtle Streets. A spokesperson for JFR said several tires were ignited sometime Tuesday morning and noted homeless people are known to live in the area. The fire’s thick, black smoke was visible for miles. Any delays were quickly resolved and no one was injured.

Days after a womans body was found after a fire at an abandoned apartment complex, the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office released a composite sketch of the woman, hoping someone in the community will be able to help identify her. Police said the woman, whose body was found inside an apartment on West 6th Street, is described as a white female in her mid-20s with brown hair and brown eyes. I feel real scared for my kids and the people that are around here because thats scary." The womans body was found inside after the fire was put out. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A major crash shut down I-295 southbound at Normandy Boulevard Friday just before noon. Jacksonville Fire Rescue reported multiple injuries and said at least one person is in serious condition. Several emergency departments and vehicles could be seen responding. At least three civilian vehicles showing major damage were loaded onto a tow truck. The crash happened just before 11:30 a.m. All lanes were shut down for about 45 minutes.

We got a request from the state for resources to assist with a Santa Rosa Five Mile Swamp Fire. I’m heading to Santa Rosa County this morning to receive a briefing from local officials on the 2,000-acre wildfire. The Florida Forest Service shows Duval and Nassau counties are currently considered “very high risk” areas. It also said the forest service has battled nearly 1,100 wildfires since January, with 97 percent caused by people.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Aa woman was shot Tuesday night while sitting inside her home on 4th Avenue, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. JSO says officers were dispatched to a reported shooting at the 1000 block of Edgewood Avenue North at 1:45 a.m.That's where officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her leg. She was treated at the scene by Jacksonville Fire Rescue and transported to a local hospital. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit are investigating the incident, but according to JSO, an initial investigation reveals this case may be related to a double shooting on the 4600 block of Portsmouth Avenue, early Friday morning. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two firefighters were stabbed Tuesday night in Jacksonville's Springfield neighborhood and rushed to a hospital for treatment, according to JFRD Union President Randy Wyse. According to the Sheriff's Office, both firefighters are expected to be ok and their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Mayor Lenny Curry was briefed on the incident. The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
