June is Alzheimerโs and Brain awareness month and the Parrot Heads partied with a purpose to raise money for this cause. Jimmy Buffett concert in Jacksonville postponed by a year again
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Jimmy Buffett fans in Jacksonville will now have to wait another year to see the iconic musician and his band in town. After his 2019 show was postponed to Dec. 8, 2020, due to Buffettโs shoulder surgery and recovery time, that show, too, has now been delayed. Now, Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will rock VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena on Dec. 7, 2021, according to Buffettโs website. His Oct. 15 show at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla., is also canceled. According to Buffettโs website, tickets are next available for his show on April 15, 2021 in North Charleston, SC.

Florida Keys reopen to visitors as Miami-area beaches closed
KEY LARGO, Fla. The Florida Keys reopened for visitors Monday after the tourist-dependent island chain was closed for more than two months to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. As the Keys took down barriers, Miami-Dade County decided to keep its beaches closed because of protests in South Florida and across the country over the May 25 death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Since March 22, the Keys have been closed to nonresidents who dont work or own property in the county. Visitors at the Winter Haven, Florida, theme park were being screened for illness, and were encouraged to wear masks and bring credit cards since the theme park had gone cashless. Still, hotels were reopening in the Miami area with restrictions, including a requirement that guests wear masks except inside their rooms.
Naval Academy holds its first-ever virtual graduation event
On Thursday, the Senate confirmed Kenneth Braithwaite, a former U.S. ambassador to Norway and a 1984 graduate of the Naval Academy, as Navy secretary. The decision not to have a live Naval Academy graduation ceremony reflects concern about the coronavirus pandemic. It stands in contrast to the Air Force, which held a scaled-back live graduation ceremony in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 18. The Army is scheduled to hold a U.S. Military Academy live graduation ceremony at West Point, New York, on June 13 with President Donald Trump as the commencement speaker. In the virtual spirit of Friday's Naval Academy event, Milley, chimed in with a Twitter note of encouragement to the graduates.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jimmy Buffett has changed his Jacksonville concert date, according to a release. The release said the concert was rescheduled "due to needed shoulder surgery planned for Jimmy Buffett, with time for recovery and therapy." The December 10, 2019 concert has been moved to Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. Jacksonville is thrilled to welcome back Jimmy Buffett to VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, says Bill McConnell, general manager of SMG Jacksonville. The song was written about his grandfather, James Delaney Buffett Sr., who was a huge influence on his life.

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will perform at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena for one night only, Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. "Jacksonville is thrilled to welcome back Jimmy Buffett to VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena," says Bill McConnell, general manager of SMG Jacksonville. Jimmy released his famous Son Of A Son Of A Sailor LP in 1978, and sang the title track on Saturday Night Live that year.
