A Green Cove Springs man running to be a state representative is looking for answers about who stole more than a dozen of his campaign signs last Friday.

There is no incumbent on the ballot this year in Florida House District 20, which covers Putnam County and parts of Clay, St. Johns, and Marion counties. Republican Bobby Payne can’t seek re-election, due to term limits.

A newly launched public safety initiative aimed at helping first responders in Clay County is now able to help them in times of need thanks to the donations from the community.

Clay County leaders announced Monday that are taking the initiative to protect law enforcement officers, first responders and emergency management teams with the addition of the Signal 35 Fund, which is named after the county’s radio call code for officers who need assistance.
