It was updated on March 20, 2021 to correct that there were 10 prostitution-related arrests at the two Atlanta businesses, and police were called to them repeatedly.

Biden will speak Thursday night from Wilmington, Delaware, as he closes out the fourth night of the all-virtual Democratic National Convention, starting at 9 p.m. The 78-year-old moderate and former Republican being given a spot to help to close out the Democratic convention is striking. The convention is also available to watch on Twitch, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV. A celebrity-studded afterparty hosted by Andy Cohen is scheduled to be shown immediately after Bidens speech on the official livestream.

The Democratic National Convention, which formally begins Monday, is not a convention in the traditional sense. Along the way, Biden's party will make history by unveiling the nation's first Black vice presidential nominee, Kamala Harris. Im glad that John and other moderate-type Republicans understand that it is wrong to be supporting Trump, Sanders told The Associated Press. Al Sharpton, a civil rights activist, predicted next week's convention would lack excitement. He said it likely doesn't matter, however, especially as Trump and his party prepare for their convention the following week. As excited as I am about Kamala Harris, the best weapon Democrats have is Donald Trump, Sharpton said.

The Republican governor argued that local governments can't impose measures that are more or less restrictive than those in his statewide executive orders, which have strongly urged people to wear masks but not required them. So, that decision is underway right now.Among the Black women Biden is believed to be considering are California Sen. Kamala Harris, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Florida Rep. Florida and Georgia were also included in the 11 states that were said to be in the red zone for test positivity. The other states listed were: Alabama, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, South Carolina, Texas, Washington. The 359-page document outlines and suggests measures that the states in the red zone should take, encouraging people to wear a mask at all times. It suggests states limit social gatherings to 10 people or fewer and maintain closures of bars and gyms.

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. Residents are Glynn County are now strongly encouraged to wear a face mask in public and in situations where social distancing isnt possible. The resolution passed unanimously. It includes 1,695 cases and 10 deaths in Glynn County. In neighboring Camden County, there have been 326 positive cases and 2 deaths. A report by The Brunswick News shows the Glynn County Commission also created a development impact fee advisory committee and named Diane Cicchiello its chairwoman, approved an amendment to the lease of the St. Simons Island Marine, and, appointed Cliff Woodman to serve out the remainder of Phil Vivianis term on the Glynn County Board of Appeals.

An additional 3,908 cases of COVID-19 were reported Friday afternoon by the Georgia Department of Public Health, and an additional 301 hospitalizations were reported in the last 24 hours. In Southeast Georgia counties tracked by News4Jax, Glynn County reported an additional 39 cases Friday. A total of five more cases were reported Friday in Brantley, 11 more were reported in Camden and 22 in Charlton. Heres a breakdown of the cases reported in Southeast Georgia:The battle over masks in a state with rapidly rising cases of COVID-19 erupted into a public fight as Atlanta and more than a dozen other cities and counties defied Republican Gov. The President takes the health and safety of everyone traveling in support of himself and all White House operations very seriously, White House spokesman Judd Deere said.

Across the U.S., state and local officials are trying to balance the competing priorities of protecting their citizens from the coronavirus while keeping the economy running. President Donald Trump also visited Atlanta on Wednesday, arriving at the airport without a face mask. Edwards' initially had resisted a statewide mask order, but changed his mind as case numbers began rising rapidly in Louisiana. Yale University law professor David Schleicher says in cases like Georgias, where it is the state versus local government, the state almost always wins. Thats not to say it is absolute.Schleicher pointed to Wisconsin where the state Supreme Court voted in May to strike down Democratic Gov.

He went so far as to say local governments couldn't order masks on their own property, which would include Atlanta's airport. Kemp's stance not only shying away from a statewide order but trying to bar local governments from instituting their own leaves him standing virtually alone. In the South, Republican governors in Tennessee, South Carolina and Florida have resisted calls for a statewide mask mandate but allow local jurisdictions to implement them. Republican governors in Alabama and Texas and Democrats in Kentucky, Louisiana and North Carolina have issued statewide mask requirements.

Brian Kemp is suing Atlanta to block the city from enforcing its mandate to wear a mask in public and other rules related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kemp and Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, in a suit filed in state court late Thursday, argued that Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has overstepped her authority and must obey Kemps executive orders under state law. The lawsuit will force that showdown, resolving what had been an ambiguous situation with Kemp denying local governments could order masks, but local governments arguing it was within their power. Kemp quickly swatted that down in public statements, and Bottoms on Thursday described them as guidelines. But Kemps lawsuit says the court should set Bottoms straight on those orders as well.

LOS ANGELES Rapper 21 Savage will be launching a free online financial literacy education program for youth sheltered at home during the coronavirus pandemic. His efforts will include a partnership with Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to provide free WiFi and tablets for underserved students in the city. 21 Savage said he wants to empower youth to manage their money. The rapper launched his Bank Account program in 2018 to teach financial literacy to teenage students across the United States. It was updated on July 2, 2020 to fix a reference to the recipients of the program.

LOS ANGELES Rapper 21 Savage will be launching a free online financial literacy education program for youth sheltered at home during the coronavirus pandemic. His efforts will include a partnership with Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to provide free WiFi and tablets for undeserved students in the city. 21 Savage said he wants to empower youth to manage their money. His program will work with mobile banking service provider Chime and EverFi, an education technology platform. The rapper launched his Bank Account program in 2018 to teach financial literacy to teenage students across the United States.

The two students are rising seniors at historically black colleges near downtown Atlanta, Young at Morehouse College and Pilgrim at Spelman College. All of the charged officers are black except for Claud, who’s white.

As the coronavirus and protests against police brutality have swept the nation, black female mayors including Atlanta's Keisha Lance Bottoms and Chicago's Lori Lightfoot have led the charge. Other black mayors including San Francisco's London Breed and Muriel Bowser of Washington have also been recognized for their measured responses and handling of their communities. Black women running for office and winning, it isn't an anomaly. They're also building up the next generation of black women elected officials and black women mayors who they're inspiring to run." Carr noted that black women make up 7.6% of the country's population yet account for just 4.3% of all members of the House and 1% of the Senate.

The car advances and gets stuck in traffic as officers run up to both sides, shouting orders. An officer uses a stun gun on Pilgrim as she’s trying to get out, and officers pull her from the car. Another officer yells at Young to put the car in park and open the window. Davis said Young has never been arrested and there was no gun or drugs in the car.

Yet the message Trump appeared to be sending with the brazen pushback of protesters outside the White House was that he sees few limits to what he is willing to do. Some around the president likened the moment to 1968, when Richard Nixon ran as the law-and-order candidate in the aftermath of a summer of riots, capturing the White House. The scene in and around the White House on Monday night appeared to be carefully orchestrated.

Across the U.S., many celebrities have been doing far more than tweeting supportive words or issuing carefully prepared statements. They took to the streets alongside thousands of people to condemn the killings of black people at the hands of police and to demand reform. ATLANTA – Two police officers have been fired and three others placed on desk duty over excessive use of force during a protest arrest incident involving two college students, Atlanta's mayor said Sunday. She said the man, Messiah Young, was released, too, and she's ordering the charges against him dropped. He urges the officers to release the other man and let him get in the car as the dark sedan advances a bit. The car gets stuck in traffic and officers run up to both sides of the car shouting orders. Atlanta police said Sunday they had arrested more than 150 people as protesters threw rocks at officers and broke windows in the downtown area.

Many of the protesters were wearing masks, but there were no attempts at social distancing. “As a nation, we have to be concerned about a rebound.”Even the many protesters wearing masks are not guaranteed protection. Britain has seen nearly 38,500 virus deaths, the second-highest in the world after the United States. The true death toll is believed to be significantly higher, since many victims died of the virus without ever being tested. In Saudi Arabia, mosques reopened Sunday for the first time in more than two months, but Islam’s holiest site in Mecca remained closed.

In Washington, the National Guard was deployed outside the White House, where chanting crowds taunted law enforcement officers. In Salt Lake City, protesters defied a curfew and National Guard troops were deployed by Utahs governor. Muhammad said she sympathized with peaceful protests over Floyds death but disagreed with the violence: Wrong doesnt answer wrong." Overnight curfews were imposed in more than a dozen major cities nationwide, including Atlanta, Denver, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Seattle. Governors in Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio and Texas also activated the National Guard after protests there turned violent.
