The Navy later identified the sailor as Petty Officer 2nd Class Cody Andrew-Godfredson Myers, an Information Systems Technician from Washington. According to a news release from the Navy, Myers was admitted to the hospital at NAS Jacksonville on Jan. 30 and was transferred to ICU at UF Health Jacksonville on Jan. 31. โOur thoughts and prayers remain with the family, shipmates and friends of Petty Officer Myers during this extremely difficult time,โ the Navy wrote in a news release. AdThe Navy said USS Tennessee crewmembers are supported by chaplains, embedded mental health specialists, and Fleet and Family Support Center counselors at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.

MARYS, Ga. โ Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay confirmed to News4Jax on Friday that an employee has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee is self-quarantining at home, according to a base spokesperson, who said additional details could not be released about the coronavirus case. News4Jax asked a base spokesperson the following questions: How does a worker commit to the six-foot rule to stay safe on a submarine? In response to those questions, News4Jax was told to contact the Pentagon. In the email, Kings Bayโs leadership said they are taking every measure possible to protect the health of those on base.
