JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The driver of a semitractor-trailer hauling U.S. mail was injured in a crash Sunday morning on Interstate 10 just east of Cassat Avenue, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The driver of the semitruck — a 62-year-old Lithia Springs, Georgia, woman — suffered serious injuries in the crash, which happened shortly after 4 a.m., troopers said. According to the Highway Patrol, the vehicle was traveling east on I-10 when the driver lost control and struck the center concrete barrier. Multiple eastbound and westbound lanes of I-10 were blocked following the crash. According to the Highway Patrol, the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. A man was killed Saturday afternoon in a head-on crash in Hyde Park, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office. The crash happened near the intersection of Old Middleburg Road North and Lenox Avenue. Officers said the mans car crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic, hitting another vehicle head-on. Police said a woman and two children in the second car were taken to a local hospital for their injuries and are expected to be OK.None of the victims were identified by police.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A veteran captain with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department was seriously injured Sunday morning when the fire engine he was driving crashed and overturned on Interstate 10 near Lenox Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Interim JFRD Chief Keith Powers said prior to the crash, Rescue 32 had responded to a call about a patient with breathing issues. A 911 call came in at 9:01 a.m. notifying authorities that a JFRD engine had hydroplaned and overturned. UNCUT: Fire chief discusses crash, injured captainPowers said Arms, who has been with JRFD for 16 years, was pulled out by bystanders. "Everybody is well trained to drive any apparatus if they are a member of JFRD," Wyse said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department truck crashed on I-10 eastbound near Lenox Avenue just after 9 a.m. Sunday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The FHP said the driver, Daniel Arms, 53, suffered minor injuries in the crash. Troopers said the Jacksonville Fire truck was heading eastbound on Interstate 10, west of Lenox Avenue when the driver lost control of the truck, which caused it to veer right. The FHP report shows the firetruck went hit the guardrail, went through it and onto the grass shoulder, where it overturned. The driver was the only one in the firetruck when it overturned and no one else was hurt.
