(Steve White via AP)NEW YORK – The co-owner of a New York City bar that authorities said has been defying coronavirus restrictions was taken into custody early Sunday after running over a deputy with a car, authorities said. Danny Presti tried to drive away from his bar, Mac's Public House, as deputies were arresting him for serving patrons in violation of city and state closure orders, Sheriff Joseph Fucito said. Deputies attempted to arrest Presti as he left the bar early Sunday, but Presti got into his car, struck a deputy and kept driving for about 100 yards as the deputy was left hanging onto the hood, Fucito said. The injured deputy was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. Authorities said the bar was still serving patrons Saturday night even though it was ordered closed entirely after Presti's earlier arrest.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The undefeated Buffalo Bulls’ bid to clinch the Mid-American Conference East Division title were placed on hold on Friday before they even had a chance to play a down. The cancelation left Buffalo (4-0) in limbo, waiting for the conference to determine whether the school has won the division title and a berth in the MAC championship game in Detroit on Dec. 18. Buffalo would’ve clinched the berth with a win over Ohio (2-1). With only one game left in the regular season, the Bulls have run out of division rivals who can mathematically beat them in the standings. The Mid-American Conference announced Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, that it will have a 6-game football season, meaning all 10 major conferences will play this fall. The conference will begin testing athletes four times per week, starting Oct 5. If all goes well, by the first weekend of November, there will be college football from coast-to-coast. The pandemic is still not under control in many states, but college football will go on in front of empty stadiums or limited attendance.
