NTSB is still investigating why the plane ended up in the St. Johns River. The landing gear separated from the plane during landing and the plane stopped in less than five feet of water. The lawyers for that passenger claimed, “Miami Air said this is God’s fault, that this was an act of God that this accident occurred.”In March, Miami Air filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Miami Air hopes to use Chapter 11 to reorganize and emerge from bankruptcy in a way that allows them to move forward financially.

Read full article: Lawsuits mount against Miami Air over injuries from 737 crashJACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two additional lawsuits have been filed against Miami Air, the charter company whose Boeing 737 skidded over the runway at NAS Jacksonville and into the St. Johns River. This brings the number of passengers seeking damages after the May crash to more than a dozen. One man contends he suffered permanent injuries which will require continuing medical care. The other plaintiff says he will incur medical expenses and other expenses for the cure and treatment of his injuries. The lawsuits accuse Miami Air of failing to properly maintain the plane and claim the pilot was not qualified and knowledgeable on the safe operation of the aircraft.
