The Jaguars are filling their defensive coordinator position with Atlanta’s Ryan Nielsen, leaning on an up-and-coming coach to revitalize a defense that imploded down the stretch as Jacksonville missed the playoffs.

Since the story was published on Monday afternoon, more than 7,000 people have voted in the online poll that had seven options, including Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor, head coach Doug Pederson, quarterback Trevor Lawrence and others.

Jaguars players and coaches are ready to see someone else. They’re tired of seeing the same faces lined up across from each other. And that’s a good thing.

Jacksonville’s first day in full pads was relatively relaxed, save for the scorching and sweaty morning at Miller Electric Center. Full pads didn’t mean full contact though. The team’s sixth training camp practice was a little more spirited but nothing near full-on collisions. That will come soon enough though.

It was a drizzle-filled day of practice for the Jaguars on the third day of training camp, but the rain didn’t put a damper on the intensity of practice. After a sloppy day on Thursday, things rebounded on Friday. The stands filled with season ticket holders watching closely and they were treated to some fireworks.
