Everywhere you go people are talking about the weather, wiping sweat from their brows. It’s truly been a hot, hot summer and we continue to talk about it everyday.

Toppled trees, downed powerlines and damaged homes are some of the impact left behind from Friday’s storms.

The National Weather Service – Jacksonville has renewed the Clay County Emergency Management’s StormReady certification.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for downtown Jacksonville as scattered storms and heavy downpours move across Northeast Florida.

Many cities in Florida and Goergia are having their hottest start to the calendar year including areas in Duval county.

After a cold few weeks, we are heading into yet another cold weekend.

Communities and local governments are reeling after at least 30 tornadoes were reported across six states Friday night: Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi and Tennessee.

It’s a stormy evening in Northeast Florida.

Throughout the day, areas east of Tropical Storm Elsa are under the threat of tornadoes.

The storm prediction center has elevated its forecast for severe weather over Georgia. This would take place Saturday afternoon and evening, where Georgia could see two bands of severe storms.

The Weather Authority is keeping a close eye on a line of thunderstorms just to the west of the I-75 corridor where a severe thunderstorms warning has been issued for Hamilton, Suwannee, and Clinch County until 3:00 PM EDT. These storms have a history on strong winds and hail.

The tornado watch has been canceled in the Georgia counties of Brantley, Camden, Charlton and Glynn. The tornado watch continues until 6 p.m. in the Florida counties of Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Gilchrist, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns and Union. The National Weather Service has canceled a tornado warning for Clay and Duval counties. The watch continues for Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns and Union counties in Georgia. The tornado watch remains in effect for the following counties through 10 p.m.:Northeast Florida:Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As the Weather Authority Alert continues Saturday, the National Weather continues to watch to severe storms track east northeast across Northeast Florida. A Tornado Watch is in effect for Union, Putnam, St. Johns and Flagler counties until midnight. For the differences between a Tornado Watch and a Tornado Warning, see the graphic below. Difference between a Tornado Watch and Tornado WarningThe Weather Authority Alert, which runs from 4-9 p.m., was triggered by heavy, disruptive rain and the potential for isolated severe thunderstorms. Those south of the I-10 corridor have an increased chance to see a strong to severe thunderstorm.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A line of severe storms that swept through Tallahassee and spawned a probable tornado that damaged the airport a midday is continuing to move east. A tornado warning was issued that includes White Springs and Winfield until 2:45 p.m. but was allowed to expire with no apparent damage as the strong front moved east -- toward the Jacksonville metro area. The Tallahassee International Airport reported damage from the storm and was shut down briefly about noon. The slow moving cold front that we started tracking Saturday morning is finally sinking south through the Jacksonville area this morning. This leaves us with grey skies and a few showers to start off with. Once the front clears out our skies will open up around lunch time and it will be sunny, breezy, and cooler for the afternoon. Monday starts off in the chilly low 40s and only warms into the cool low 60s under mostly sunny skies. Tuesday and Wednesday will also be cooler and sunny, starting out around 40° and warming into the mid 60s.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Thunderstorms that swept through Northeast Florida on Christmas Eve spawned a tornado in Starke that left two people injured, according to the National Weather Service Jacksonville. Crews surveyed the damage left in Bradford County in the wake of the strong storms and said it’s consistent with a tornado with maximum winds of 105 mph, classifying it an EF1. The NWS said the tornado developed just after 6 p.m. and left a damage path of about 4.13 miles. The tornado caused damage to trees, fences, and roofs on manufactured homes along its 4-mile path, NWS said. News4Jax saw damage along Highway 100 near Starke, where trees fell onto two homes and a car.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Four to six inches of rain caused flooding and blocked roads in St. Augustine on Sunday. I’ve got nothing but time so I’m just waiting it out.”During Monday’s St. Augustine City Commission meeting, Public Works Director Reuben Franklin will provide an After Action Report regarding the flooding that occurred throughout the city as a result of the nor’easter earlier this month. As part of the discussion with commissioners, Franklin will make recommendations for community outreach and workshops to address recurring flooding in specific areas and neighborhoods. During the nor’easter, some streets in downtown St. Augustine had standing water during high tides. According to the National Weather Service Jacksonville, flooding also led to the closure of King Street from Ponce de Leon Boulevard to the area of Whitney Street.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office blocked off Edgewood Avenue. All this water is flooding and damaging my house, my property and everything,” said Jerome Anderson, who lives off Edgewood Avenue. Even though the worst of the rains are over, any significant rain will add to travel issues and some additional flooding.

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Coastal Georgia, including Glynn County, is under a flood watch until 8 a.m. Monday. As of 6 a.m., the total rainfall hit more than 4.3 inches. On Sunday, the National Weather Service Jacksonville tweeted that the St. Simons Island was seeing record-breaking rain totals. “Sometimes there’s a cold snap and (there’s) not as much rain, usually.”According to the National Weather Service, St. Simons Island hit the highest daily rainfall on record for the month of December. The last daily rainfall record for the month of December was set back in 1997 at 3.27 inches.
