Minshew has a strained ligament and multiple fractures in his right thumb, according to a person familiar with the situation. The injury could prompt Marrone to turn to rookie Jake Luton after the team’s bye week. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity Thursday because the Jaguars (1-6) have not disclosed Minshew’s injury publicly.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew is battling serious discomfort in his right hand and X-rays this week showed that he has multiple fractures and a strained ligament in his thumb, ESPN reported. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jaguars didn’t know about his injury until this week. ESPN reported that Minshew has had the pain in his thumb since a loss to the Texans on Oct. 11. It isn’t known if Minshew will be healthy enough to play when the Jaguars host the Texans on Nov. 8. He has struggled since Week 2 and the Jaguars are mired in a six-game losing streak.

“I don’t ever remember having our own defense score more than our offense,” Nagy said. “That’s that’s that’s hard to do. But the offense has averaged 16 points per game in Foles’ four starts since, and he’s getting little help from the players around him. The offensive line struggled against the strong front of the Rams (5-2), producing just 2.9 yards per carry. Foles was sacked four times, twice at the hands of former Bears linebacker Leonard Floyd, and he threw two interceptions.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Jay Gruden knows that the relationship is important, perhaps the most integral one on the team. Thats why the new Jaguars offensive coordinator cant wait to get to work on the field with quarterback Gardner Minshew, whenever that may be. Gruden met with the media on Tuesday and said that getting to know Minshew off the field has been a priority for him. After watching Minshew play last season, Gruden thinks he has the qualities to lead the Jaguars into the future. But Gruden says that playing in the NFL is about taking advantage of your opportunity and that is what Minshew did last season.

Marrone said that its challenging to get the full effect of a traditional offseason program when coaches and players arent around one another, but theyre doing the best that they can. The Jaguars will put Ben Bartch, a fourth-round draft pick, at right guard, presumably behind starter AJ Cann. Marrone said that hes enjoyed hearing from players about their work in the offseason, including that of backup quarterback Dobbs.

Under Gardner Minshew, the Jaguars ranked 30th in the NFL in scoring touchdowns from inside the opponents' 20-yard line. He's set to return Sunday against the Colts after surgery for a broken collarbone. Foles broke his left collarbone in the Jaguars' first game against the Chiefs and had been on injured reserve with a designation to return since. At 4-5 and in a congested AFC South, the Jaguars are still very much in the playoff conversation. The Jaguars slowly incorporated Foles back into practice beginning Oct. 23, with the target date for his return always the Colts game. While Minshew may be the future for the Jaguars, there's no doubt that a healthy Foles is the more consistent choice going forward.

Regarding the recent "Invitation to Bid" process initiated by JEA that requires a minimum bid of $3 billion, UNF PORL asked 665 registered voters what minimum price they would accept in order to support selling JEA. A majority, 51%, did not know what minimum price they would be willing to sell JEA for. More than one in five people surveyed volunteered that they would not be willing to sell JEA at any price. Ultimately, the sale of JEA must be put before the voters of Jacksonville prior to the sale being finalized. The Jaguars quarterback won his sixth Pepsi Rookie of the Week honor on Friday, continuing his stellar first season in the NFL. Minshew passed for 279 yards and three touchdowns in last week's 29-15 win over the New York Jets. Minshew, a sixth-round draft pick from Washington State, has passed for 1,976 yards and 13 TDs in eight games, including starts in the last seven. Only Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray and New England defensive end Chase Winovich have managed to claim the weekly award from Minshew. Until Gardner Minshew or Nick Foles shows they are ready to carry the team through the air, the Jaguars need to ride Leonard Fournette. Against the Bengals, the worst rushing defense in the league, Fournette posted his third 100-plus yard rushing games in the last four weeks. The Jaguars struggled in the first half up front but improved in the second half. The Jaguars failed to convert on a fourth-and-goal situation from the 1-yard line in the first half.

Coach Doug Marrone said that the debut of rookie tight end Josh Oliver will come in Sundays game at Cincinnati, and that injured quarterback Nick Foles could return to practice as early as next week. In his absence, rookie Gardner Minshew II emerged and has played well, going 2-3 as a starter and winning four Rookie of the Week awards. The Jaguars placed Foles on injured reserve with a designation to return, meaning he could begin practicing with the team in Week 8. Foles would be eligible to return the play the week of Nov. 10, although the Jaguars have a bye that week. Yeah, we think well be able to get him next Wednesday out at practice, Marrone said.

Sports Mania in Jacksonville Beach was already feeling the sting the day after the trade. Smith said that blow is on top of what has already been a difficult season for the Jaguars. Smith said he hopes things will turn around for an already difficult season, but only time will tell. In the meantime, all Ramsey gear is 50% at the store.

In his first NFL game, he threw two touchdowns and set a franchise record for completion percentage. He had a scholarship offer from UAB, but then UAB suspended its program. Even with Minshew now starting, the Jaguars still have playoff aspirations and Nick Foles cannot return until Week 11.

The franchise quarterback's debut with the team came to a grinding halt when he took a rough hit after throwing a 35-yard touchdown pass to DJ Chark. Foles suffered a broken left clavicle and received surgery for the injury Monday. Foles' wife, Tori, posted photos from the game to Instagram Monday, saying the surgery was successful but acknowledging it was a rough weekend for the family. Foles said the injury "was worse" than the one he suffered in 2014.

The Jaguars placed Nick Foles on injured reserve on Monday following successful surgery for a broken collarbone. Marrone said on Monday that Foles would go on injured reserve with the hopes for a return this season. Players who receive the injured reserve with a designation to return must spend eight weeks on the injured list before being allowed to return. Foles would reach eight weeks on the injured list on Nov. 10, although the Jaguars have a bye that week. To back up Minshew, the Jaguars traded a fith-round pick to the Steelers for third-string quarterback Josh Dobbs.

According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Jacksonville has traded for Pittsburgh's Josh Dobbs. Dobbs, who played at Tennessee, is a third-year player who has appeared in five NFL games. Dobbs played at TIAA Bank Field while at Tennessee, leading the Volunteers over Iowa 45-28 and earning MVP honors.

Jacksonville finished with 242 yards of offense, the bulk of those generated by backup quarterback Gardner Minshew. But all eyes were on how Foles and the Jaguars starters would fare in their first activity together. Foles went 6 of 10 passing for 48 yards and threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Dede Westbrook to put Jacksonville in front 7-0. Fitzpatrick tossed an 8-yard touchdown pass to Mark Walton midway through the third. SLOW STARTThe Dolphins didn't have a first down until their fourth possession, when the Jaguars jumped offside on third and five.

Allen made plays, starting from the first drive and just never quit. From pressuring the quarterback to tackles behind the line of scrimmage, Allen was a dominant force for the Jaguars defense while playing through the entire first half. Starting offense: The Jaguars saw Nick Foles play into the second quarter, taking 19 snaps. That's what you would expect from the Jaguars' defense against a Dolphins' offense that isn't expected to be very potent this season. We aren't likely to see the starting offense on the field together in a game setting until then.
