On Sunday, News4Jax sat down with Brooklyn Owen, the first trans woman to run for Florida Senate District 6, to see what Women’s History Month means to her. “It really is the time to empower women,” said Owen, a Jacksonville native. “I am not running because I am a trans woman, I am running because we need to fix education and we need to fix climate and we need to do it yesterday,” Owen said. “So that means we need to act now.”Like women before her, Owen said her goal is to contribute to Women’s History Month in a way that lifts up the women of the future.

(CNN) - A teenager who died after eating a birthday meal at British burger chain Byron had told staff about his allergy to dairy, but was misled into thinking his order was safe to eat, a coroner has found. But he was reassured by the menu and told the burger was suitable, the UK's Press Association (PA) reported. Carey suffered an allergic reaction soon after eating it and died within an hour. Byron is one of Britain's most popular burger chains, with 35 restaurants in London and several others around the country. "We believe that Byron always did its best to meet our responsibilities, but we know that this will be of no comfort to Owen's family," he added.
