Friday is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. It is a day to remember Americans who were prisoners of war and those who served and never returned home. Events are planned around our area over the next two days to honor them.

Mary Hoff was instrumental in the creation of the iconic POW/MIA flag. United States. Her husband's plane was shot down in 1970. He is still missing in action.

Jacksonville International Airport has a new display in honor of former prisoners-of-war and those missing-in-action.

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced the U.S Army Cpl. Alton Christie, 18, of Jasper Florida, died in the Korean War and his remains were accounted for in 2022. On Tuesday, Christie's remains arrived in Jacksonville.
