Thousands of people continue to complain about trash and recycling pick up throughout Northeast Florida as a new company prepares to take over pickup services in some parts of Jacksonville.

Problems with trash pickup are making it harder for thousands of people around Northeast Florida to go green with curbside recycling.

It’s a good bet that just about all of us have thrown something away on accident.

Northeast Florida residents mistakenly put 1,500 tons of trash in their recycling bins every month.

For example, if a holiday is on Tuesday and your service day is Wednesday, you will be collected on Thursday. If the holiday falls on your service day, your trash will be collected the following day. The city of Jacksonville, Keep Jacksonville Beautiful and Republic Services are hosting their annual free paper shredding and recycling event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Prime Osborn Convention Center parking lot.
