News4JAX on Tuesday obtained a report from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission into a canoeing accident in Julington Creek, in which a 16-year-old boy died.

It was an emotional few hours Saturday for dozens at Alpine Groves Park who gathered for a memorial vigil for Riley Teixeira, a sophomore at Creekside High School, who died after his canoe flipped over in the St. Johns River last Sunday.

Family, friends, students and a community are mourning the loss of 16-year-old Riley Teixeira after the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office announced his body was found Monday during a search in Julington Creek.

The body of a missing 16-year-old boy was located Monday after the teen disappeared Sunday when a canoe overturned, authorities said.
