Republicans have long relied on finding upper-income and white voters in the growing suburbs to build on their base in rural America and win elections. GLEN ST. MARY, Fla. - A Baker County man was charged with second-degree murder after a 36-year-old woman was struck and killed while walking along a highway south of Glen St. Mary, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. When the driver was located at a home less than a mile from the scene, Baker County deputies learned he knew and apparently targeted the victim. When Baker County deputies questioned Jackson, he said he suffered from schizophrenia but had been off his medication for two years. Royal told News4Jax that Knox told her before leaving Jackson's house that she was going to walk to her mother's home.

A Baker County man is facing charges after a deadly hit and run crash that killed a 36-year-old-woman. Troopers said Robert Jackson, 31, was the driver of a minivan that was driving on State Road 121 Wednesday night when he struck Christina Knox who was walking along the roadway. The Florida Highway Patrol said after the crash, Jackson left the scene and returned to his home in Mcclenny. He is now facing second degree murder charges.
