When the driver was located at a home less than a mile from the scene, Baker County deputies learned he knew and apparently targeted the victim. When Baker County deputies questioned Jackson, he said he suffered from schizophrenia but had been off his medication for two years. Royal told News4Jax that Knox told her before leaving Jackson's house that she was going to walk to her mother's home.

Troopers said Robert Jackson, 31, was the driver of a minivan that was driving on State Road 121 Wednesday night when he struck Christina Knox who was walking along the roadway. The Florida Highway Patrol said after the crash, Jackson left the scene and returned to his home in Mcclenny. He is now facing second degree murder charges.
