After being sold at auction, the Salt Life apparel business is expected to have new owners. A bankruptcy judge will take a look at the deal in a hearing Thursday afternoon.

A co-founder of the popular Salt Life brand pleaded guilty Thursday to manslaughter with a firearm in connection with the 2020 death of a Lake City teenager, according to Palm Beach County court records.

Michael Troy Hutto, co-founder of the popular Salt Life brand, was arrested in Jacksonville in October 2020 and is facing a charge of manslaughter in the death of a Lake City teenager.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A founder of the Salt Life clothing brand who’s facing a manslaughter charge in the death of an 18-year-old woman at a Florida hotel is due in court next week. Hutto was arrested last Friday in Jacksonville, about 280 miles from the hotel, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Investigators have not said how they believe Hutto is connected to Duncan’s death or if they had a relationship. COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – One of the founders of the Salt Life brand was arrested Friday after an 18-year-old Columbia County woman was found dead inside a South Florida hotel.
