The 82-foot (25-meter) Emmy Rose went down about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northeast of Provincetown, Massachusetts, the Coast Guard said in an emailed statement. The vessel owner reported there were four people aboard, and the vessel’s satellite phone went unanswered, according to the statement. The first Coast Guard crews on the scene discovered debris and an empty life raft. Three Coast Guard vessels and two aircraft are involved in the search, which was being made more difficult by 6- to 8-foot (2 to 2.5-meter) seas and 35 mph (55 kph) winds.
