Sporting Club Jacksonville, United Soccer League’s Northeast Florida expansion franchise, made forward steps Thursday to bring a soccer team to the city.

Sporting Club Jacksonville, the United Soccer League’s (USL) newest franchise in Northeast Florida, named Mark Warburton as the club’s first Sporting Director and Head of Soccer.

Sporting JAX’s women’s soccer team will play its inaugural season at the University of North Florida beginning in August 2025, the franchise and college announced on Tuesday.

Sporting JAX, a club founded in 2020, is announcing the arrival of Jacksonville’s first women’s major league sports franchise in the city on Tuesday.
