The broader consumer price index rose 0.5%. "The big picture is that inflation will fall next year," wrote Marcel Thieliant, senior Japan economist, in a research note Friday. The markets are sitting in a state of "currency war detente," wrote Stephen Innes, managing partner at Valour Markets, in a research note. But he added that the yuan's weakening indicates that China's central bank is "possibly putting one of their [trade war] cards on the table."
