Dr. Vincy Samuel, an epidemiologist at Baptist Health, was one of a dozen Jacksonville health care workers who won tickets to attend. This year’s Super Bowl was different of course, because of social distancing guidelines brought on by COVID-19. Commissioner Goodell sent a letter to the president saying many of the stadiums should be able to get vaccination efforts moving quickly because of previous offers to use stadiums as virus testing centers and election sites. TIAA Bank Field has already hosted a vaccination site at Lot J. The Jacksonville Jaguars already have a plan in place at TIAA Bank Field to begin its transition into a COVID-19 vaccination site. AdBiden and Vice President Kamala Harris plan a virtual tour of the vaccination site at the Arizona Cardinals’ State Farm Stadium on Monday afternoon, according to the president’s public schedule.

Pandemic or not, Moody said, weekends with big events like the Super Bowl generate a lot of that money for those kinds of businesses. According to Moody’s office, during the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami, there were 47 arrests for human trafficking-related charges. AdMoody’s office teamed up with Uber, Airbnb and the Florida Beer Wholesalers Association to get their workers to recognize the signs of human trafficking.

Command posts have been positioned throughout the city to allow local state and federal agents to communicate with each other. Another aspect of Super Bowl security that might not be as apparent: The efforts to stop human trafficking. U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents have helped to train airport workers on how recognize the signs of someone being brought into the country as a victim of sex trafficking.

Roughly 22,000 fans will be allowed inside Raymond James Stadium on game day and that includes 7,500 frontline healthcare workers who were invited to attend. For one ticket in the upper corner of the stadium, you’d have to pay more than $10,500, according to prices shown on Ticketmaster on Monday morning. With prices that high, people are looking for a good deal and where there is money on the line, scammers are nearby. The Better Business Bureau says it received more than 200 reports of ticket scams last year.
