The St. Johns County superintendent on Tuesday recommended the school board approve a substantial pay raise for teachers that was recently endorsed by a mediator brought in to settle an ongoing dispute between the district and the teachers union.

A special magistrate brought in to help settle a pay dispute between St. Johns County teachers and the school district has sided with teachers seeking a raise.

A group of St. Johns County teachers is planning a show of solidarity to protest pay.

Roughly 175,000 Florida teachers and 3,600 principals can soon expect $1,000 bonuses in their mailboxes.
