Two days before a domestic incident Sunday that ended in a deadly officer-involved shooting on Jacksonville’s Southside, police had been called to intervene in a similar incident involving the same couple.

A man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being shot Tuesday afternoon in San Jose, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Firefighters responded Monday to a fire at an apartment building in the San Jose area that was hit by lightning earlier this month, the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating six separate shootings Easter weekend, one of which left two dead, following a violent night in Jacksonville.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was wounded in a shooting Sunday in the San Jose area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Officers said they responded around 4:30 p.m. to the shooting on Old Kings Road near Toledo Road. Police said a man in his early 20s was shot in the upper torso. Police said he suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said they’re now looking for another man who was wearing all black clothing.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot Sunday in the area of Powers Avenue, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Officers said they responded around 12:50 p.m. to a shooting on Powers Avenue near Toledo Road. Police said they found a man in his mid-40s with a gunshot wound to his torso. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said. As detectives investigate the shooting, anyone with additional information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – There were five minors in a car at the center of a high-speed chase that led to a police-involved shooting, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office said the chase started about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of University Boulevard and Powers Avenue. When the car hit 80 mph, according to the arrest report, the officer turned on his blue lights. According to the arrest report, the car was still going 100 mph when it hit the stop sticks. The arrest report does not even say Paige was shot, only that he was apprehended after a foot pursuit.
