Trans folx are resilient! JASMYN serves trans people as well as the rest of the rainbow of LGBTQ youth in Northeast Florida. Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual national observance on November 20th that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. JASMYN is leading a movement to rename the day Transgender Day of Resilience, honoring the trans community’s ability to find their way forward against tremendous odds especially from aggression based on appearance.

It always runs in the week leading up to November 20, the Transgender Day of Remembrance. Across the country, communities hold different events and activities to help people recognize Transgender Awareness Week, said Alex Schmider, associate director of transgender representation at GLAAD. "The transgender community is a group of people who are living in every community, in every neighborhood, working in every industry, contributing positively to society," he said.
