A Sunday night football loss for the Jaguars got even worse as quarterback Trevor Lawrence underwent a test for a head injury and went into the concussion protocol after the game.

Doug Pederson used the third preseason game like a dress rehearsal for the team, with starters playing most of the first half. It’s the calm before the storm. It’s been a low-key start to Jaguars training camp this week, which is just fine for players and coaches.

It was a drizzle-filled day of practice for the Jaguars on the third day of training camp, but the rain didn’t put a damper on the intensity of practice. After a sloppy day on Thursday, things rebounded on Friday. The stands filled with season ticket holders watching closely and they were treated to some fireworks.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars are keeping a steady presence in the secondary, re-signing cornerback Tre Herndon before free agency opens next week. Herndon has played in 43 games and started 26 in three seasons with the Jaguars. Keeping Herndon before free agency begins is a low-risk move for the Jaguars. The secondary will no doubt get a makeover in free agency. The free agency period begins with the open of the new league year on March 17 at 4 p.m.

The Ravens would love to savor the memory of Lamar Jackson coming off the bench to throw a pivotal fourth-down touchdown pass before setting up Justin Tucker for a 55-yard winning field goal. So if the Ravens experience a letdown Sunday against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars (1-12), then Jackson's heroics in that epic 47-42 win over the Browns could turn out to be meaningless. “These are professional players, and they understand that to make the last win matter, you have to win the next one," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “I don’t know if it’s hitting their stride or just really executing on a real high level, both in the run game and in the pass game," coach Doug Marrone said of Baltimore. Rookie Jake Luton started three games while Minshew was out with a thumb injury and Mike Glennon started the following three games.

Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue (91) celebrates after sacking quarterback Sam Darnold during the first half on Sunday. The Jaguars were dominant on the defensive side of the ball for the second consecutive week and turned Sam Darnold's and the New York Jets' trip to Jacksonville into forgettable October day. Three interceptions and eight sacks, followed by a three-touchdown afternoon by Gardner Minshew II gave Jacksonville a 29-15 win over the Jets at TIAA Bank Field. Darnold, the Jets quarterback whose sound bite that he was "seeing ghosts" during Monday's loss to New England went viral, endured a rough day against the Jaguars. Bouye's return went to the Jets 25 and set up the dagger eight plays later, an 8-yard touchdown pass from Minshew to D.J.

JACKSONVILLE, FLA - The Jaguars travel to Cincinnati to face the winless Bengals on Sunday. Although this is just Week 7, the Jaguars face a tremendously important game if they want to return to playoff contention. If the Bengals try the same approach, Minshew needs to be able to make plays downfield from the pocket. The Bengals are anything but potent and there isn't a matchup with a wide receiver that should scare the Jaguars this week. Leonard Fournette was not happy that the Jaguars traded Ramey.

Starting free safety Jerrod Wilson also said the Ramsey saga wasn't a distraction for the team and that he didn't think there would be much of a change since the same quartet, A.J. "(Ramsey) wasn't really a distraction," Wilson said. "Were still going to be our single safety, just kind of like weve been the last couple of weeks, three weeks, without Jalen [Ramsey].

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jaguars lost their second straight game, falling at home to the New Orleans Saints 13-6. It was clear that, especially early in the game, the Saints were not going to test A.J. Minshew looked out of sync with his receivers much of the day. With games against the Bengals and Jets coming the next two weeks, the Jaguars face virtual must-win games. The Jaguars can win both, but their margin of error is dwindling if they want to be a contending team.
