Read full article: Are sports leagues overburdening COVID-19 testing?

All of those leagues have COVID-19 testing as part of their return to play. Other leagues are also preparing to return to the season, which means massive numbers of test kits. USA Today estimates that between the major league sports leagues now playing, they are using 19,000 test kits per week. The players are pushing for more frequent testing, which would likely find more positive cases but would also demand many more test kits. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A national poll published by USA Today this week found that 20% of teachers said they are unlikely to go back to school if their classrooms reopen in the fall. That could mean more than 1,500 Duval County teachers might not come back, if the USA Today survey results come to fruition. The USA Today poll also found that nearly two-thirds of teachers said they haven’t been able to properly do their jobs since most instruction was moved online. A separate USA Today poll of parents with at least one child in grades K-12 found that 6 in 10 would likely explore at-home learning options.

Concerns about water quality

Read full article: Concerns about water quality

A survey by the Water Quality Association found that three-quarters of Americans don't believe their household water supply is as safe as it could be. In a recent USA Today/CNN/Gallup Poll, 47 percent of respondents reported they won't drink water straight from the tap. Environmental problems have an enormous impact on water quality. Water runoff from industrial plants and farms, acid rain and other forms of pollution have tainted groundwater and surface water supplies in many areas of the world. Population growth, urban and suburban sprawl, and industrial and agricultural expansion continue to stress fresh water supplies.
