The city of Jacksonville is one step closer to taking action to improve safety at the Valencia Way Apartments, which has a long history of crime issues.

A Westside apartment complex riddled with violent crime issues is the center of a new public nuisance complaint.

Almost five years after a 19-year-old was shot and killed at the Valencia Way Apartments in 2019, an arrest was made in her murder.

The body of a buried man was discovered Tuesday morning following a tip received by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

A man was found fatally shot outside of the Valencia Way Apartments Monday afternoon, the Jacksonville Sheirff’s Office said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Construction and installation of new natural gas pipes could begin this weekend at the Valencia Way Apartments in Jacksonville, according to a news release from Teco Peoples Gas. Peoples Gas said the property owner made several attempts to repair the pipes, but it was determined the underground system needed to be rebuilt. 1 priority, and we are happy to help with Valencia Way. We are doing everything we can to accelerate this process to ensure these residents have safe and reliable access to natural gas," said T.J. Szelistowski, president of Peoples Gas. According to Peoples Gas, the property owner will be responsible for distributing the natural gas to tenants after the installation.
