In the first shooting, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said police were sent to Claremore Avenue near West Beaver Street on the Westisde around 5:30 p.m. Lt. Paris said officers found a man who had suffered a serious injury and that man was hospitalized for treatment. There was no information about the victim, who was believed to be about 30 years old. At about 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to an unrelated shooting in the Arlington neighborhood. The Sheriff’s Office determined the shooting occurred at a residence nearby on Justina Terrace.

Investigators said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was assisting police with an abandoned vehicle that was found on someones property. During a search of the area, police said, FWC officers found the mans body. Its believed the man is between 60 and 70 years old, police said. When the body was pulled from the lake, they found hed been shot several times.

The driver of the pickup truck saw the pedestrian about 7:20 a.m. and tried to maneuver around him but somehow the pedestrian changed position as the pickup was passing and was hit by the right front side of the truck. Traffic homicide detectives in charge of the investigation said the driver of the pickup and a child passenger were not injured in the crash. The driver stopped and Jacksonville firefighters were on the scene quickly because of another call nearby, police said. Police said the area is known as a high fatality crash area and conducts frequent traffic deployments because of that.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck didn't stop for the vehicles ahead and plowed into the back of the box truck. The impact caused the Mercedes and Cadillac in the lane next to the box truck to be damaged by the pickup truck and flying debris. The 58-year-old male driver of the pickup truck suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be cut out of the truck by firefighters. The box truck driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
