According to the report at the time, Downey stopped and tried to help the person, later identified as Richard Noak. Results returned in April showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.129 -- well above the legal limit to operate a vehicle. Toxicology also showed Downey had amphetamines and methamphetamines in his system at the time of the crash. Nearby homeowners have since posted signs on their mailboxes reminding drivers of the speed limit and report speeders when they see them.

Andromache, a 10-feet, 8-inch sub-adult female great white shark “pinged” at 8:43 p.m. on Tuesday right off Crescent Beach, Florida just south of St. Augustine Beach. Andromache’s movements are being tracked in real time by OCEARCH’s Global Shark Tracker app. According to OCEARCH, Andromache was named after a character in Greek mythology of the same name and who is a symbol of maternity, strength and courage. She was the first tagged during OCEARCH’s Expedition Massachusetts 2020.

His nine-day journey would be the shortest flight from coast to coast, which is anticipated to take 14 to 21 days. His mother, Lynne, is among those rooting for his world record attempt. “If I could, I would be there with bells on!” Lynne Milne said in a Facebook post.

The team is investigating a shipwreck along Crescent Beach. According to Chuck Meide, an archaeologist with the Lighthouse Maritime Archaeological Program (LAMP), the wreckage is believed to be from a large ship that sailed in the 1800s. The timbers are measured in feet and inches, so it’s believed to be of American, British or Canadian origin. LAMP will be on the beach over the next few days taking measurements and samples.

Deputies said Ruben Fuentes, of Silver Springs, Maryland, was wanted on burglary charges and is currently awaiting trial on charges of attempted murder. News4Jax obtained a call made to 911, in which someone reports a man who was on the ground in front of the gas station door. I dont know whats wrong with him.News4Jax crime and safety expert Ken Jefferson says Maryland authorities likely had no idea the man had traveled 770 miles to Northeast Florida. Eventually, Fuentes will be extradited back to Rockville, Maryland.

Saturday afternoon, a father and his teenage son had to be rescued from the water near the border of Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach. Lifeguards say to keep yourself safe, check beach conditions before you go, and then when you arrive, look for the color of warning signs and flags.

JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - A man died a week after he was struck by a sport utility vehicle while riding a bicycle just north of Crescent Beach in St. Johns County, the Florida Highway Patrol said Thursday. According to the Highway Patrol, a Honda CRV was traveling south on S.R. A1A, approaching Seascape Circle, as a bicyclist was traveling ahead of the CRV on southbound S.R. The bicyclist then turned left into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle, the Highway Patrol said. The Highway Patrol report shows the driver of the CRV, a 34-year-old Palm Coast woman, was reportedly uninjured, but taken to Flagler Hospital as a precaution.
