Almost five days after a vessel capsized on the St. Johns River, crews continue to look for a child who remained unaccounted for as of Wednesday afternoon.

Three boaters remain missing on Saturday night after their boat capsized on the St. Johns River the day before. A car that went off the Dames Point Bridge Saturday night was pulled out of the river Sunday morning. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A car was pulled out of the St. Johns River Sunday morning after the vehicle went over the side of the concrete wall of the Dames Point Bridge following a crash Saturday night with another car in the southbound lanes, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the 27-year-old driver of the vehicle that went over the side was able to exit his vehicle and had only minor injuries. All southbound lanes on I-295 were closed for an hour while the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department got the driver out of the water and police cleared the scene. Jacksonville Naval Air Station 1 inch of snow fell, while at Jacksonville Beach 2.5 inches was recorded. By December 23, 1989, Counter-clockwise winds around the low pushed the arctic front south across Florida with cold temperatures surging southward across the entire peninsula. By Christmas morning much of the snow began melting.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Transportation shared impressive video of inspectors taking a closer look at the Dames Point Bridge last week. According to FDOT, the inspection covered both the underside and top side of the bridge. Crews used climbing rope and safety harnesses to inspect steel cables that extend from the towers and connect to the bridge span, supporting the structure. The Dames Point Bridge has the longest vertical span bridge, coming in over 1,300 feet. Overall, 168 cables are used to connect the bridge.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Florida Highway Patrol responded to a hit-and-run crash that left a trailer hanging off the side of the Dames Point Bridge on Saturday morning. The crash closed the northbound lane on the bridge for several hours. The trailer has since been towed away and all lanes have reopened. Jacksonville Fire-Rescue crews said there was no fuel spill and the plane remained in the water while efforts to salvage it begin. Sources told News4Jax that the pilot of the small plane was an aircraft mechanic who experienced engine issues on take-off.
