When the body of 13-year-old Tristyn Bailey was found in the evening on Mother's Day in 2021, a worrisome search for a missing teen became a shocking murder case that rocked a family and a community.

“I made my sign and got dressed up and people noticed,” Spar-Kelly said. “Finally, people noticed.”The sign drag queen Spar-Kelly holds reads simply: “THIS IS NOT STUDENT PICK-UP, HONEY.” She held the sign in the neighborhood for three days. She and her neighbors say dozens of Creekside High School parents have been parking down the street during school pickup to avoid the long line to the school on Longleaf Pine Parkway. “The cars were parked and another car pulls around the parked cars and t-boned her.”On Wednesday, Spar-Kelly’s initiative paid off. Commissioner Christian Whitehurst said he is now working with St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office to get new “no parking” signs installed, showing that people can’t park in the neighborhood during afternoon pick up hours.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - The teenage boy operating a golf cart in the Durbin Crossing subdivision when a younger teenager fell off and was seriously hurt last month has been cited by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said there were six children on the golf cart July 9 when someone set off a firework and Luke Tabor hit his head on the road. The 15-year-old who was operating the golf cart has been cited with a moving violation. In addition, the golf cart was traveling down North Durbin Parkway, which is a 30 mph roadway; a county law limits the use of golf carts to 25 mph roads. The Sheriffs Office said this latest incident was the third golf cart-related accident involving a head injury in St. Johns County so far this year.
