Twenty-six people from seven states, including two people in Florida and Georgia, have been infected with the outbreak strain of Listeria, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

A listeria infection may result in brain or bloodstream infection and can be treated with antibiotics. Symptoms of the infection include fever and diarrhea, muscle aches, and headache. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service has released a full list of possibly affected retailers in their updated recall alert. Any chicken product that falls under the recall should be thrown away or returned to the place where it was purchased.
