Soggy start to February: How this rain compares to years past
Read full article: Soggy start to February: How this rain compares to years pastJACKSONVILLE, Fla. – We’re only around a third of the way into February and we’ve already picked up about two-thirds the normal rainfall we typically see. That makes our monthly total 2.40″ of rain so far, which is only .79″ below our average rainfall total for the whole month, which is 3.19″. Comparatively, February of 2019 was much drier as we only saw 1.83″ of rain that month. If we go through February and March without much rain, our wildfire danger grows quite high. AdLooking ahead to the next round of wet weather, it appears we will continue to stave off spring fire danger with rain expected on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise to move headquarters to Texas
Read full article: Hewlett Packard Enterprise to move headquarters to TexasSPRING, Texas – Tech giant Hewlett Packard Enterprise said it is moving its global headquarters to the Houston area from California, where the company's roots go back to the founding of Silicon Valley decades ago. Hewlett Packard Enterprise was created in 2015 when the computer hardware pioneer Hewlett-Packard Inc. broke into two parts after years of struggling to keep up with industry trends, such as consumers’ shift away from personal computers. The split left one new company, HPE, concentrated on the business of selling data center hardware and business software, while another new company, HP Inc., kept the legacy PC and printer operations. HP Inc. is still headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and remains the bigger of the two companies in terms of revenue. “We are incredibly committed to Silicon Valley,” he said.

In reality, Phil's prediction is decided ahead of time by the group on Gobbler's Knob, a tiny hill just outside Punxsutawney. Over the past five years — from 2015 through 2019 — Phil has predicted six more weeks of winter thrice and an early spring twice. Phil’s prediction was mirrored by one of his fellow groundhogs in New York.

Read full article: Arctic blast may shatter 300 records before bringing us coldest weather this season so farJACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The coldest temperatures we have seen all season are headed our way behind showers on Tuesday. The Arctic blast of air will lower our temperatures down into the upper 30s and low 40s early Wednesday morning. The cold weather only sticks around for about 24 hours locally. That's according to data from the National Weather Service, which predicts more than 300 record cold temperatures could be tied or set from Monday to Wednesday. Enhanced lake-effect snow is forecast to produce even higher snow totals in the areas where the snow bands set up.

It's not their fault -- the flying insects are just heading south to escape the coming cold weather. The National Weather Service office in Wakefield, Virginia, tweeted radar imagery on Monday that showed strange, cloud-like masses over parts of Virginia and North Carolina. Mike Dutter, the science and operations officer for the Wakefield office, said weather radar is sensitive enough to detect tiny droplets of rain, so it's not unusual for it to also pick up dust, flocks of birds or insects.
