Handcuffed man drowns after jumping into Florida bay
TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. โ A handcuffed Florida man died after bolting from police custody and jumping into Boca Ciega Bay, where he drowned, authorities said. Treasure Island police arrested Donnie Brownlow Jr., 33, after responding to a domestic disturbance Sunday evening around 7:40 p.m., the Tampa Bay Times reported. He was in custody on charges of domestic battery, obstruction, felony driving while license suspended and violation of probation. Paramedics from the Treasure Island Fire Department pulled Brownlow from the water and performed CPR. Brownlow was brought to the Palms of Pasadena Hospital, where he died around 9:40 p.m.
Police: Man spit at boy who refused to remove his mask
TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. โ A Florida man was arrested after confronting a child wearing a mask at a restaurant and spitting in his face when the boy refused to take it off, police said. Jason Copenhaver approached the child's table Sunday and asked the boy if he was wearing a mask, according to Treasure Island police. He then grabbed the boy's hand tightly and put his face next to the child's, telling the boy he now had the coronavirus, according to police reports. โVictim stated that (Copenhaver) was in such close proximity that spit particles from (Copenhaverโs) mouth landed in his face,โ an officer wrote in the police report. Police said Copenhaver told them he didnโt know if he had coronavirus and has never been tested.
